Mirra Andreeva vs Solana Sierra prediction
Mirra Andreeva returns to Indian Wells as the defending champion after her stunning triumph over Aryna Sabalenka in the final last year, as she came from a set down to win her second WTA 1000 title. The Russian became the youngest player to win the title since Serena Williams in 1999. She already has a title to her name this season after winning in Adelaide, but she was unable to retain her crown in Dubai after losing in the quarter-finals to Amanda Anisimova.
She faces Solana Sierra after receiving a bye. Sierra showed a lot of fighting qualities as she defeated Peyton Stearns in straight sets. Stearns had won the ATX Open last week and established 4-1 and 5-2 leads in both sets, but Sierra came back to win 7-5 7-5.
Andreeva has not quite reached the heights of last season yet, but she is one of the favourites for the title here.
