Mirra Andreeva vs McCartney Kessler prediction

Mirra Andreeva’s defence of her Indian Wells title ended early, as she was on the end of a surprising three set defeat to Katerina Siniakova. Andreeva had begun her campaign with a 6-0 6-0 thrashing of Solana Sierra, but she continued to make errors and lashed out at the crowd as she lost to Siniakova despite going a break up in the deciding set. The Russian received a bye in the first-round and begins her tournament against McCartney Kessler.

Kessler came from a set down to beat Magdalena Frech in the first-round. The American did not face a break point in sets two or three as she won 2-6 6-4 6-2 after one hour and 46 minutes. She also does lead the head-to-head 1-0 after pulling off an upset against Andreeva in the third-round of last year’s Canadian Open.

Nevertheless, Andreeva is a strong favourite to notch up her first win against Kessler and advance to the third-round.
