The prediction

Melbourne come into this one on the back of a 45-point loss to a struggling Essendon side last weekend to end what was an impressive four-match winning streak to kick off the 2026 AFL campaign. 

They now face a Lions side that have enjoyed a three-match winning streak since a defeat to Sydney in New South Wales in round two. They were run close by a North Melbourne in their most recent outing. 

Defending champions Brisbane are getting themselves into a groove and backing the Queenslanders is a good bet, albeit it should be a touch fixture at the MCG.
