Maya Joint vs Sofia Kenin prediction
Maya Joint booked her place in the next round of the Korea Open after a battling straight sets victory over Linda Fruhvirtova. The Australian served for the match at 5-4 in the second but was broken and had to dig deep in the tiebreak to get the job done. She won 6-4 7-6. There were nine breaks of serve in the match overall but the 19-year-old showed all her fighting qualities to get through.
She will take on Sofia Kenin as the American came from a set down to beat Laura Siegemund. The American made a poor start to the match as she lost the first five games, with Siegemund racing ahead to take the first set. Kenin recovered well in the second and looked to have the match wrapped up as she broke at 4-3 up to serve for the match. Siegemund was able to break but Kenin responded quickly to win 2-6 6-3 7-5 after two hours and 41 minutes.
These two have played once before at the start of the year with Joint, a wildcard at the time, beating Kenin 6-3 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the Hobart International. This could go either way and there’s a strong chance this is decided in three sets.
