Mattia Bellucci is currently on a four-match losing streak as his poor clay court season continues. He couldn’t make it out of qualifying for Monte-Carlo or Barcelona, with losses to Fabian Marozsan and Borna Coric. He then fell to a straight sets loss to Damir Dzumhur in the first-round of Madrid and his fortunes did not improve on the Challenger Tour with another loss, this time to Spanish veteran Albert Ramos-Vinolas in Aix-en-Provence.
Bellucci was distinctly second-best, losing 6-2 6-2 but must put that recent disappointment behind him when he takes on Pedro Martinez.
Martinez isn’t in inspiring form either, as the Spaniard lost in the first-round of Madrid against Francisco Comesana and was then dumped out of the Estoril Open at the same stage by Alexey Vatutin despite being the sixth seed.
Neither player has much confidence in their game heading into this one, but we do side with the higher-ranked Martinez to get it done in three sets.
