Matteo Berrettini vs Dalibor Svrcina prediction
Matteo Berrettini makes his latest return to the tour from injury in Hangzhou. He last competed at Wimbledon, but the 2021 finalist lost in the first-round to Kamil Majchrzak. That was the only tournament Berrettini had featured in since he was forced to retire from his match against Casper Ruud at the Italian Open in May. The former world number six will be raring to go after such a frustrating period out and begins his campaign against Dalibor Svrcina.
Svrcina enters the draw as a lucky loser. He lost in the second stage of qualifying to Giulio Zeppieri in straight sets. He has just one victory on the ATP Tour this season, though the world number 99 has found success in Challengers in 2025, with three titles in Pune, Barletta and Cancun respectively.
There will always be question marks about Berrettini’s fitness going forward, but he is still a quality player and should be able to mark his return with a victory in the first-round.
