Matteo Arnaldi vs Roberto Bautista Agut prediction

Matteo Arnaldi is coming off the back of a fine run to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open. He defeated 23-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets on the way, while also claiming the scalp of Frances Tiafoe. He ran out of steam against Jack Draper, losing 6-0 6-4 in the last eight, but this was a strong return to form for the Italian after early exits in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona.

Arnaldi will hope to continue the momentum when he takes on Roberto Bautista Agut in the first-round of his home tournament. The Spaniard has reached the second-round in three of his four clay court events this year but hasn’t been able to make a deep run. He was outclassed by top seed Alexander Zverev in Madrid last time out after getting past Jaume Munar in the first-round.

Arnaldi will be full of confidence after his string of wins in Madrid and with a boisterous home crowd behind him, we can’t see anything other than a straight sets victory for the Italian.
