Martina Trevisan vs Rebecca Marino prediction

Martina Trevisan continues her comeback season as she competes in one of her home tournaments. The Mexican had missed much of this year due to a serious heel injury, losing in the first stages of qualifying at Cincinnati and the US Open. She also competed in the 125 event in Guadalajara last week, making round two. Trevisan reached 18 in the world rankings two years ago but continued injury problems leave her outside the top 200 now.

She will face 34-year-old Rebecca Marino in the first-round. Marino did qualify for the US Open a fortnight ago with three victories in qualifying. However, she was unable to go any further in the main draw after a heavy defeat to former finalist Leylah Fernandez. The Canadian has a couple of hard court victories on the WTA Tour this season, but her best form has been on the ITF Tour with her best result being a final appearance in Ilkley.

Marino has far more matches under her belt than Trevisan this season and should be viewed as the favourite to advance.
