Marta Kostyuk made it eight straight wins and remains unbeaten on clay this season as she defeated Caty McNally in straight sets to advance to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open for a second straight year. She faces Linda Noskova in the last eight. Noskova defeated world number three Coco Gauff in a thrilling three set battle. She took the lead, but Gauff turned the match on its head with a dominant second set, and she looked on course for the win at 4-1 up in the decider. However, Noskova fought back with four games in a row, eventually winning 6-4 1-6 7-6 (5).
Kostyuk has found form at the right time, but Noskova is a gritty competitor and has her eyes on a second WTA 1000 semi-final of the campaign.
