Roberto De Zerbi’s future and general demeanour is in question as his chaotic and entertaining Olympique de Marseille side now take on rock-bottom Montpellier Herault at Stade Velodrome.

Marseille Preview: Chaotic Marseille

Roberto De Zerbi is being heavily linked with a move away to AC Milan this summer and that has caused many on and off-field issues for Olympique de Marseille as their once occasional collapse is now becoming a more regular occurrence.

Their most recent outing saw them suffer one of those aforementioned collapses as they were beaten 3-0 by Monaco at Stade Louis II in their most recent outing last weekend due to goals from Takumi Minamino, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo.

Montpellier Preview: Struggling Montpellier

Montpellier Herault begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting 12 points adrift of the relegation playoff places and 14 adrift of safety with just 15 points to play for as Jean-Louis Gasset oversees his boyhood club going down into Ligue 2.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Le Havre in their most recent outing at Stade de la Mosson last weekend due to goals in the first-half from Yann Kechta and Abdoulaye Toure.

Marseille Team News: Defensive injuries

As well as the absence of back-up goalkeeper Ruben Blanco, Marseille also have some key defensive injuries as Leonardo Balerdi and Chancel Mbemba are both sidelined, whilst former Al Ittihad centre-back Luiz Felipe is also a doubt.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Rulli; Michael Amir Murillo, Kondogbia, Ulisses Garcia; Luiz Henrique, Rongier, Hojbjerg, Merlin; Greenwood, Rabiot; Rowe

Unavailable: Ruben Blanco (Injured), Balerdi (Injured), Mbemba (Injured)

Questionable: Luiz Felipe (Injured)

Montpellier Team News: Several doubts

Ahead of the trip to the Stade Velodrome this weekend, Montpellier are dealing with several injury doubts for this one such as the likes of former Celtic defender Christopher Jullien as well as the likes of Enzo Tchato and striker Andy Delort.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Fofana; Bamba, Lefort, Hanin; Raolisoa, Belkhdim, Aholou, Abdelli, Ekomie; Lepaul, El Melali

Unavailable: Maksimovic (Injured)

Questionable: Meite (Injured), Jullien (Injured), Sagnan (Injured), Tchato (Injured), Maamma (Injured), Delort (Injured), Issoufou (Injured), Gueguin (Injured)

Marseille vs Montpellier Prediction

That aforementioned 3-0 loss to Monaco last weekend means that Marseille have now suffered four defeats in their last five matches. Their 29 Ligue 1 games have consisted of 98 goals and they have been entertaining to watch throughout. They now face a Montpellier side that have been poor throughout the season with 66 goals conceded in their 29 games so far. Despite their inconsistency, Marseille are expected to win this one quite comfortably in a game that should be a high-scoring and entertaining affair.

Marseille vs Montpellier Tip: Marseille to win -1 handicap
