Marin Cilic last competed at the Italian Open, but he could only reach the second-round after a straight sets defeat to lucky loser Martin Landaluce. Other than a quarter-final appearance at the Dallas Open, Cilic has struggled to make a deep run this season, but the veteran is still ranked inside the top 40 of the world rankings. He faces Moise Kouame, who is set to make his main draw debut at a Grand Slam as he was handed a wildcard at his home slam.
