Mariano Navone vs Brandon Nakashima prediction
Mariane Navone has endured a rather disappointing season on clay. He reached the quarter-finals of the Argentina Open in February but couldn’t replicate that form in Brazil or Chile during the rest of the South American swing. In terms of European clay, he could only make the second-round of Bucharest, Munich, Madrid and Rome. He is coming off the back of two defeats as he lost to Jannik Sinner in his comeback match at the Italian Open and then against Luca Nardi in the first-round of the Turin Challenger.
Brandon Nakashima got his clay season off to good start, making the semi-finals of the Houston Open before a loss to compatriot Frances Tiafoe. The American also got to the fourth-round of the Madrid Open and took the first set against Daniil Medvedev but the Russian came back to win.
Navone has disappointed on clay this season but has shown how capable he can be on the surface with final appearances last year in Rio and Bucharest. Nakashima meanwhile has clearly improved but is still yet to reach a final on clay. We can see this being a close battle between the pair but Navone may just make that greater experience count.
Mariano Navone vs Brandon Nakashima tip: Mariano Navone to win 3-1 or 3-2
