Maria Mateas vs Camila Osorio prediction
Maria Mateas completed back-to-back straight set wins as she beat Arantxa Rus 6-4 6-2 to book a place in the quarter-finals of the Morocco Open. It was a landmark win for the American, as she registered her first win against a top 100 player and is now in the last eight of a WTA Tour event for the first time in her career.
Mateas will have a sterner test against Camila Osorio in the next round. The Colombian second seed, who has had a dip in form since winning Copa Colsanitas in early April, recovered from a set down for the second successive match to beat Kamilla Rakhimova 4-6 6-2 6-3.
This will be their first match on the WTA Tour but Osorio did win a W100 qualifier in Charleston all the way back in 2020 against Mateas. The Colombian now holds an 8-3 win-loss record on clay this season and seems to be finding form once more. We think she will win in straight sets.
