Maria Lourdes Carle vs Rebecca Sramkova prediction

Maria Lourdes Carle picked up a fine victory in the final qualifying round for this event, defeating second seed Bernarda Pera in straight sets. She had played in two previous WTA 125k events on clay before participating in Madrid but struggled to make inroads. She lost in the quarter-finals in Antalya and only made the second round as the third seed in La Bisbal d’Emporda. 

Rebecca Sramkova was due to begin her clay court season in Stuttgart but withdrew on the eve of the tournament due to an elbow injury. She’s been off the tour for a month, having not featured since a loss in the second-round in Miami. The Slovakian is now at her highest ever ranking of 36 and reached the quarter-finals of the Merida Open two months ago.

Sramkova may be rusty having not featured in over a month in comparison to her opponent who has been used to the clay for over three weeks. We think she may get off to a slow start but eventually her quality will shine through, and she will prevail in three sets.
