Marcos Giron vs Marin Cilic prediction

Marcos Giron was on a three-match losing run before competing in Cagliari last week on the Challenger Tour. He was able to win two matches as he advanced to the quarter-finals, before a loss to Roman Andres Burruchaga. Giron’s best form occurred earlier this season, as he reached the semi-finals of events in Hong Kong and Auckland, along with a final appearance in Phoenix.

Marin Cilic is his first-round opponent. The 2014 US Open champion was due to face Joao Fonseca in the second-round of the Madrid Open after getting past Zizou Bergs, but he withdrew. The veteran is inside the top 50 of the world rankings and has managed to notch up victories on a consistent basis in 2026. However, he has only made it to the quarter-finals or better of one event this season, and that was at the Dallas Open back in February

Cilic’s fitness will be a concern ahead of this one. He may still come into this as the favourite, but Giron is a tricky competitor.
