Marcos Giron vs Hubert Hurkacz prediction

Marcos Giron produced a big upset in the last round as he dumped compatriot and number four seed Taylor Fritz out of the tournament in the second-round. Giron won 7-6 7-6. He staged an unbelievable comeback in the second set, reeling off five straight service games after going 4-0 down.

He now goes up against Hubert Hurkacz. The Pole defeated Pedro Martinez 6-1 7-5 in a mostly controlled performance, though he did have to save a set point in the second set. This was Hurkacz’s first win since Indian Wells and his first on clay this season after an injury-hit couple of months.  

This is their first match on the surface but Hurkacz leads the head-to-head 3-0. Their last encounter took place in Tokyo last season, with the world number 31 winning in three sets. 

Both players are solid from the back of the court and have strong serves. There’s a chance they cancel each other out but we favour Hurkacz with his flawless record to continue the unbeaten run against Giron.
