Man Utd preview: Improved first half but beaten
At the weekend, Manchester United were much-improved in the first half at Stamford Bridge at Chelsea but they eventually collapsed in the second half with a 2-0 defeat, fortunate not to be more, with Lisandro Martinez also sent off in London.
The Red Devils are hovering just above the bottom three and the relegation places in the Premier League with Michael Carrick’s side having managed just two victories in 13 matches across all competitions so far this season.
Roma preview: Impressive Roma
Gian Piero Gasperini and his Roma side continued their unbeaten start to the Serie A campaign at the weekend as they hammered Udinese by five goals to two at the Bluenergy Stadium in Friuli, having been 4-0 up inside 37 minutes in that one.
The Giallorossi performed well in Gasperini’s first season at the Stadio Olimpico but they are now beginning to evolve again and discover the relentless fluency that his best Atalanta sides had, emerging as one of the most entertaining teams to watch in Europe.
Man Utd team news: Finding a formula
Having been an unused substitute, Bruno Fernandes did come back into the eleven against Chelsea with Youri Tielemans then dropped. It did work well in the first half and it could well be that Carrick believes in that style with Bryan Mbeumo up top and Amad Diallo out on the right.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Yoro, Maguire, Martinez, Dalot; Santos, Baleba; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo
Unavailable: Shaw (Injured), Dorgu (Injured), Ugarte (Injured), Sesko (Injured)
Questionable: Rashford (Fitness)
Roma team news: A few absentees
As they head to Manchester, Roma do not have any fresh issues but they do have some key absentees such as first-choice goalkeeper Mile Svilar, France international midfielder Manu Kone and key attacker Paulo Dybala.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Gollini; Mancini, Ndicka, Hermoso; Molina, De Roon, Pisilli, Wesley; Soule, Cristante; Malen
Unavailable: Svilar (Injured), Bah (Injured), Kone (Injured), Pellegrini (Injured), Dybala (Injured)

Man Utd vs Roma prediction
That entertaining form from Roma has seen their last three matches consist of 19 goals in three matches since hammering Slovan Bratislava by four goals to nil in their most recent game in this competition. Earlier in their league phase campaign, Roma had shared a 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce in Istanbul before a dramatic 4-3 loss at home to Real Madrid in a game in which they had been 3-1 up until late on. Manchester United began their league phase with a comfortable defeat of Sabah before a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid prompted outspoken criticism of the club by the aforementioned Lisandro Martinez and then a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Como prompted club captain Bruno Fernandes to openly criticise the tactics deployed by Carrick. Siding with Roma is the way to go for this one at Old Trafford.
Man Utd vs Roma Tip: Double chance – Roma to win or draw
