Urs Fischer is in charge of an underperforming Mainz side that remain rock-bottom in the Bundesliga, albeit they did earn an impressive 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena at the weekend. In the UEFA Europa Conference League, they sit just about tucked inside the top eight after a 1-1 draw with Lech Poznan last week.
They now face a Samsunspor side that have been very impressive in this competition, beginning with three wins from three but they have since dipped with a 2-2 draw against Breidablik and a 2-1 loss at home to AEK Athens, contributing to a six-match winless run of form across all competitions.
With their home advantage and gradual improvement under Urs Fischer, siding with Mainz would appear the way to go for this one at the MEWA Arena.
