Madga Linette is back on the tour for the first time since her fine run to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open. She had some brilliant wins against Ekaterina Alexandrova and Coco Gauff before losing in the last eight to Jasmine Paolini. Linette won her first WTA title on clay last season at the Prague Open and can be considered a dangerous player on the surface. She begins her campaign against Maria Sakkari who picked up a timely victory in the first-round against Xinyu Wang. The Greek held her nerve during a tense second set tiebreak to win 6-4 7-6 (7).
The Pole won their only encounter from six years ago at the Hobart International, coming from behind to win 3-6 6-2 6-4. Sakkari can pose questions to anyone but has struggled virtually all season and we back Linette winning in three sets.
