Magda Linette advanced through to the second-round of the Miami Open after coming from a set down to beat Varvara Gracheva. Linette was largely uncompetitive in the first set but proceeded to win 12 of the next 14 games to claim a 2-6 6-2 6-0 victory after one hour and 57 minutes.
Iga Swiatek is still yet to reach a final this season as her quest for a third Indian Wells title ended at the quarter-final stage to Elina Svitolina. That was her third successive quarter-final loss of the season, and she has now been usurped by Elena Rybakina in the world rankings. The world number three won this tournament in 2022 but was on the end of a shock defeat to Alexandra Eala last year.
Swiatek leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a comprehensive win in Beijing a few years ago. Despite not being at her sparkling best, this should be comfortable for the six-time Grand Slam champion.
