Madison Keys vs Sonay Kartal prediction

Madison Keys is through to the third-round at Indian Wells after a straight sets win over Diane Parry. Keys had not featured on the tour since her Australian Open defence ended over a month ago, but she was in control for the majority of this match, winning 6-4 6-3. Parry had beaten Venus Williams in the previous round, but she was never threatening an upset here.

Keys faces Sonay Kartal next. The Brit saved a match point as she battled her way past Emma Navarro in the previous round. Kartal comfortably led after the first set but relinquished her advantage as Navarro struck back. The American served for the match on two occasions, but Kartal fought back to win 6-1 3-6 7-6 (2).

The 2025 Australian Open champion leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a comfortable win over Kartal in the first-round of Wimbledon three years ago. Kartal can be a difficult opponent, but she did seem to be struggling with a back problem during her match with Navarro, and Keys will head into this one as the clear favourite.
