Mackenzie McDonald vs Jenson Brooksby prediction

Mackenzie McDonald last competed in the qualifying rounds of the Miami Open, losing in the first stage to Martin Landaluce. He did fare better at Indian Wells as he advanced through qualifying and then won his first-round match against Matteo Arnaldi in dominant fashion, before a defeat to Cameron Norrie. His best result of the campaign so far was a quarter-final appearance in Quimper, though he ended up having to retire.

He faces Jenson Brooksby, who begins the defence of his title after winning the event in 2025. His form in 2026 has been largely poor and he has seven defeats from 11 matches. Brooksby’s only result of note was in Dubai as he reached the quarter-finals, but he then lost in tame fashion to Daniil Medvedev.

There is pressure on Brooksby to perform as he has plenty of points to defend, and while he should be able to get the job done over McDonald, he will need to get off to a strong start.
