Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon begin the sixth match day of the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League league phase campaign sitting at the top-of-the-table on goal difference with four victories and a defeat thus far. Lyon most recently did suffer a slender and surprise 1-0 loss to Lorient in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
Go Ahead Eagles famously defeated Aston Villa in October, following their surprise qualification for Europe out of the Dutch Eredivisie. They have suffered three defeats from their other four matches and come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw away from home against AZ Alkmaar.
Lyon will really fancy themselves with their home advantage and their form in Europe would also suggest they should come out on top against plucky opposition.
