The Italian picked up the most impressive win of his career in the round-of-16, as he saved four match points in a comeback win over world number three Alexander Zverev. Darderi struggled physically in his last four match, as he lost 6-1 6-1 to Casper Ruud. He takes on Roman Andres Burruchaga in the first-round. This has been a breakthrough year for the Argentine, as he reached his first tour-level final in Houston, where he lost to Tommy Paul in three sets. Burruchaga also won a Challenger event in Sao Paulo.
However, his results have taken a dip in recent weeks, with a first-round exit in Rome followed up by a second-round loss at a Challenger event in Bordeaux. If Darderi is fit and firing, he is the clear favourite to advance.
