Since winning the Hamburg Open in July, Lois Boisson has failed to pick up a victory as she lost in the first-round of both Cincinnati and the US Open. Despite her achievements this season, which include a WTA title and a fabulous run to the semi-finals of Roland Garros, Boisson has just one win from five matches on hard court this year.
She will face world number 333 Yeonwoo Ku first up. The South Korean was handed a wildcard to compete at her home tournament. She has made four finals on the ITF Tour this season and has secured two titles. However, she lost in the first-round of an event in Guiyang last time out.
Boisson’s game is not nearly as effective in these conditions, as it minimises the use of her drop shot and heavy forehand. Nevertheless, this is a match she should be winning against such an inexperienced opponent and she will be a clear favourite.
