Liverpool preview: Pressure eased

Liverpool come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Fulham at Anfield in the Premier League the other day, courtesy of a couple of late first-half strikes from Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have been in very indifferent form of late with the pressure growing on former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, with the general expectation being that he will depart the club this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain preview: Brilliant Parisians

In the first-leg of this UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie, contributing to the pressure being ramped up on Slot, Paris Saint-Germain easily defeated Liverpool by two goals to nil at Parc des Princes, with goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

PSG are the defending champions and they won the treble last season, coached by Luis Enrique, who is also set to depart this summer. The Parisians haven’t been as strong as last season but they remain at the top-of-the-table in Ligue 1, too.

Liverpool team news: All out attack, surely

It is surely the case that Arne Slot will try to play an attacking system and style of football for Liverpool after his attempt at a back three last weekend.

The Reds do now have Alexander Isak back in fitness and so he could start, but that remains unlikely, albeit it would be a surprise if Mohamed Salah was an unused substitute once again.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike

Unavailable: Alisson (Injured), Leoni (Injured), Bradley (Injured), Endo (Injured), Bajcetic (Injured)

Questionable:

Paris Saint-Germain team news: No need to change

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for PSG to deal with and so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven on Merseyside this midweek.

Spain international midfielder Fabian Ruiz and versatile France international attacker Bradley Barcola are working their way back to full fitness.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Unavailable: Ndjantou (Injured)

Questionable: Ruiz (Injured), Barcola (Injured)

Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain prediction

After a much more difficult campaign of late, PSG have been much-improved once again as the spring has sprung. They have been putting in some excellent performances of late, especially in the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool will believe they will be able to show much more fight and competitiveness than last week, albeit even winning the leg seems unlikely given the form of both sides.

Liverpool vs Paris Saint-Germain Tip: Paris Saint-Germain to win & both teams to score
