Linda Noskova made it through to her first quarter-final of the season as she swept aside Alexandra Eala. The Czech was always in control and blew Eala away, winning 6-2 6-0 after just 55 minutes. It has not been the best of starts to this season from the 21-year-old, but she seems to be gaining momentum with a third straight win.
She now takes on Talia Gibson, who continued her brilliant run as she beat Jasmine Paolini in three sets. Gibson, who had to qualify for the tournament, had already beaten Ekaterina Alexandrova and Clara Tauson in previous rounds, and she dominated the deciding set to defeat a struggling Paolini. The Australian returned strongly throughout, winning 7-5 2-6 6-1.
Noskova will be the clear favourite, but it must be considered that Gibson has beaten three top-20 players in a row and has won her last six matches overall. She should be able to challenge the Czech in this match.
