After a slow start to the campaign, Linda Noskova’s season finally came to life as she won four matches in a row to make the semi-finals at Indian Wells. Unfortunately for the Czech, she was unable to reach her second WTA 1000 final as she was defeated by world number one Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.
Sorana Cirstea is her opponent for a third time already this season. Cirstea won their meeting in Dubai last month, but Noskova came from a set down to exact revenge two weeks ago at Indian Wells in the second-round. The Romanian has already won a title this season after her success at the Transylvania Open, and she won her first-round match here against Shuai Zhang in straight sets. Cirstea claimed a 6-3 6-4 victory.
These matches between the pair are usually hard-fought, but it’s difficult to look past Noskova after her form at Indian Wells.
