Linda Noskova cruised through to the third-round of the Madrid Open after a straight sets win over Emiliana Arango. She was not broken on serve as she won 6-3 6-2 after just an hour and seven minutes. The Czech advanced to the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open last week, losing to Elina Svitolina.
She now faces Liudmila Samsonova. She also enjoyed a comfortable previous match as she beat Janice Tjen. Samsonova won nine games in a row at one point as she claimed a 6-2 6-1 victory. Samsonova has struggled for much of this campaign up to this point, but this was one of her most dominant wins of the year.
