Lille preview: Strong Lille

With Bruno Genesio at the helm, Lille, despite the departures of Angel Gomes, Edon Zhegrova and Jonathan David over the summer transfer window, the northerners have managed to collect seven points from their opening three matches so far this season.

Having started with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Stade Brest away from home, they managed to defeat Monaco with a last-gasp winner and they then demolished newly-promoted Lorient by seven goals to one, in a game that was goalless at half-time.

Toulouse preview: Strong start for Toulouse

Carlos Martinez Novell remains in charge of a Toulouse side that have perhaps underperformed a fair bit in recent years, or at least underwhelmed, but the Violets have started this campaign reasonably well with two victories in three matches.

They defeated Nice at the Allianz Riviera by a goal to nil and then Brest 2-0 at home, before then suffering a 6-3 loss to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in a thrilling encounter at the Stadium de Toulouse before the international break.

Lille team news: Giroud a doubt

Olivier Giroud has started the season well for Lille, but the Frenchman missed that 7-1 demolition of Lorient and he remains a doubt for this weekend, too, due to a hamstring injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ozer; Meunier, Ngoy, Alexsandro, Perraud; Bouaddi, Andre; Broholm, Haraldsson, Correia; Fernandez-Pardo

Unavailable: Toure (Injured), Mbappe (Injured)

Questionable: Santos (Injured), Mukau (Injured), Giroud (Injured)

Toulouse team news: A few issues

Toulouse have a few issues to deal with for this one as both Niklas Schmidt and Ilyas Azizi are sidelined, whilst the likes of new signing Abu Francis, as well as Rafik Messali are doubts.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Restes; McKenzie, Cresswell, Nicolaisen; Sidibe, Sauer, Cristian Casseres Jr, Methalie; Donnum, Magri, Gboho

Unavailable: Schmidt (Injured), Azizi (Injured)

Questionable: Francis (Injured), Messali (Injured)

Lille vs Toulouse prediction

The criticism levelled at both of these sides, and their coaches, would be that their style of football can often to be too controlled and almost too cautious. However, the start of this season has suggested a slight tweak with a bit more intensity and energy on the ball, and that has led to some thrilling matches already. As a result, both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in the north of France.

Lille vs Toulouse tip: Both teams to score
