Lille preview: Need for consistency

Coached by Bruno Genesio, Lille begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots in Ligue 1, but they went into the break on the back of two defeats in three matches in the league.

The northerners’ most recent outing saw Lille beaten 2-0 by Strasbourg at Stade de la Meinau in the Alsace region a couple of weeks ago, due to goals in either half scored by Netherlands international striker Emmanuel Emegha.

Paris preview: Ambitious and wealthy

As one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe, Paris FC, following their promotion to the top-flight last season, were expected to push for a top-half finish this season and they have started reasonably well, albeit their form has dipped of late.

The Parisians most recently suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Stade Rennais due to an 81st minute winner scored by Breel Embolo. That means they have now managed just one win in their last five matches in Ligue 1.

Lille team news: Andre suspended

Lille captain Benjamin Andre is missing through suspension for this one, while Nathan Ngoy is now a fresh injury doubt alongside Ethan Mbappe, the brother of Kylian.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Ozer; Meunier, Mandi, Mbemba, Perraud; Sahraoui, Bouaddi, Haraldsson, Correia; Giroud, Fernandez-Pardo

Unavailable: Alexsandro (Injured), Toure (Injured), Andre (Suspended)

Questionable: Ngoy (Injured), Mbappe (Injured)

Paris team news: Otavio suspended

Big money summer signing Otavio, the former FC Porto defender, is missing through suspension for the visitors, whilst both Pierre-Yves Hamel and Jonathan Ikone are injured.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Nkambadio; Chergui, Mbow, Ollila, De Smet; Lopez, Camara, Lees-Melou; Kebbal, Krasso, Simon

Unavailable: Otavio (Suspended), Hamel (Injured), Ikone (Injured)

Questionable: Sangui (Injured)

Lille vs Paris prediction

Lille themselves have a lot of quality and they have quite a bit of depth, too. The northerners have an extremely high peak, as shown by some hammerings so far this season. They can be susceptible going the other way, though, and Paris will fancy themselves to get at Lille in what should be an entertaining encounter for the neutral, albeit Lille have to remain favourites.

Lille vs Paris tip: Lille to win & both teams to score
