Leylah Fernandez vs Oksana Selekhmeteva prediction
Leylah Fernandez’s poor form did not improve at Indian Wells, as she lost her opening match to Katerina Siniakova, despite going a set up. Fernandez also established a 3-1 lead in the deciding set but Siniakova came back to win. The 2021 US Open champion has lost seven of her nine matches in 2026 and is yet to pick up back-to-back wins.
Oksana Selekhmeteva is her second-round opponent, with Fernandez receiving a bye in round one. She defeated Emiliana Arango in three sets to get her campaign in Miami up and running. Arango was 3-1 up in the third, but Selekhmeteva stepped up her level by winning the final five games as she sealed a 6-3 4-6 6-3 win after two hours and eight minutes.
Despite her results, Fernandez is still competitive in her matches, and she will look to extend the rallies and force Selekhmeteva into errors. The Canadian remains the favourite to advance from the second-round for a third year in a row.
