Leylah Fernandez vs Iva Jovic prediction
Leylah Fernandez continued her improvement as she beat Julia Grabher in the second-round of the Madrid Open. Fernandez was always in control, winning 6-2 6-3 after one hour and 14 minutes. The Canadian advanced to her first quarter-final of the season at last week’s Stuttgart Open, pushing world number two Elena Rybakina all the way in their last eight match, before eventually losing in a deciding set tiebreak.
She now takes on Iva Jovic. The teenager cruised through after a comfortable win over Magda Linette. She won 81% of her first serve points as she claimed a 6-4 6-1 victory. Jovic reached the semi-finals of the Charleston Open earlier this month.
If Jovic is able to step inside and take control early, she could cause problems for Fernandez, despite the latter’s better performances over the last week. The higher ranked Jovic is beginning to pick up impressive results on clay, and she is the favourite for this one.
