Leylah Fernandez will meet Diana Shnaider for a fifth time feeling like she has turned a corner.
The Canadian made a poor start to the year but has since won three of her last six, including a 6-2 6-1 rout of Polina Kudermetova in the first round here.
Shnaider is back inside the top 20 for the first time this year and was solid in the key moments during a 7-5 7-5 win over Katie Volynets.
The match-up stands at 2-2 but the Russian has won the last two, including a 7-5 6-3 victory in Adelaide earlier this year.
Diana is also a better player statistically on clay and that may well give her the edge.
