Lens preview: Lens in the title race

Lens have been frustrating in their stumbling in Ligue 1, having won just one of their last four matches in Ligue 1, passing up the chance to go to the top-of-the-table with Paris Saint-Germain not playing last week.

That is because Lens succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Lorient at Stade du Moustoir with Bamba Dieng and Tosin Aiyegun scoring for Lorient either side of an Odsonne Edouard equaliser.

Angers preview: Mid-table Angers

Angers have pushed themselves clearly into the middle-of-the-table but the visitors are in very average form ahead of this one, seemingly very much ‘on the beach’ with eight games to go.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Nice due to goals scored by Malvin Bard and Elye Wahi, meaning that they have now suffered five defeats in their last six matches.

Lens team news: Masuaku suspended

Sunderland loanee Arthur Masuaku is missing through suspension for this one, while former Newcastle United attacker Allan Saint-Maximin remains an injury doubt, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Risser; Celik, Ganiou, Sarr; Abdulhamid, Sangare, Thomasson, Udol; Thauvin, Sima; Edouard

Unavailable: Gurtner (Injured), Baidoo (Injured), Antonio (Injured), Gradit (Injured), Masuaku (Suspended), Aguilar (Injured), Said (Injured)

Questionable: Saint-Maximin (Injured)

Angers team news: A few injuries

Angers are dealing with a few injury issues for this one as goalkeeper Herve Koffi has now been sidelined alongside Carlens Arcus, Jacques Ekomie and Goduine Koyalipou.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Zinga; Courcoul, Camara, Lefort; Raolisoa, Capelle, Belkelba, Van den Boomen, Hanin; Sbai, Koyalipou

Unavailable: Koffi (Injured), Ekomie (Injured), Arcus (Injured), Koyalipou (Injured)

Questionable:

Lens vs Angers prediction

With their home advantage, Lens will be expected to come out quite comfortably. However, due to the poor form and the pressure seemingly getting to Pierre Sage’s side, it may not be overly convincing against what is often a stubborn Angers. That said, the visitors themselves are in woeful form and Lens should still be sided with in a likely low-scoring encounter.
