Leeds United preview: Leeds looking to kick on

Leeds United won the Championship title on the final day of last season with a come from behind 2-1 defeat of relegated Plymouth Argyle at Home Park, and there were immediate suggestions that manager Daniel Farke could be sacked by the Whites.

However, Leeds have stuck by the former Norwich City boss and they have brought in some impressive additions, primarily from the Bundesliga, and there will be a belief that Leeds could well have more than enough to compete against the drop this season.

Everton preview: A new era for Everton

Everton are heading into a new era with a new stadium this season, as the Toffees enter into the new Hill Dickinson Stadium on Bramley-Moore Docks, away from Goodison Park, and yet their manager is the same man who led them over 20 years ago.

David Moyes returned to Merseyside in mid-January, and the Evertonians pushed themselves clear of the bottom three and the relegation places. They will be looking to kick on this season with some impressive transfer business being done.

Leeds United team news: Defensive absentees

According to Daniel Farke, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will sign for Everton on Friday but he is unlikely to have signed in time for this game.

Jaka Bijol is suspended, Sebastiaan Bornauw is injured and full-back Jayden Bogle is an injury doubt with a late fitness call to be made.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Meslier; Byram, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Stach, Ampadu; James, Tanaka, Gnonto; Piroe

Unavailable: Bijol (Suspended), Bornauw (Injured)

Questionable: Bogle (Fitness)

Everton team news: No Branthwaite

David Moyes has confirmed that England international Jarrad Branthwaite is indeed sidelined for Everton this weekend.

He didn’t rule out that the other injury issues, Nathan Patterson, Vitaly Mykolenko and Harrison Armstrong, could be available for this one.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Keane, Aznou; Gueye, Garner; McNeil, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye; Barry

Unavailable: Branthwaite (Injured)

Questionable: Patterson (Injured), Mykolenko (Injured), Armstrong (Injured)

Leeds United vs Everton prediction

Leeds have some business left to do this summer and they are reportedly closing in on the signings of James Justin and former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the time of writing. They still have a strong squad and a lot in attack so, at home, they will be expected to be intense and energetic. Once things calm down, though, Everton have a range of ways of getting on the scoresheet themselves so a score draw may well be a good value bet here.
