Learner Tien vs Reilly Opelka prediction

Learner Tien is currently on a three-match losing streak following defeats in Munich, Madrid and most recently Estoril at a Challenger event. The 19-year-old impressed earlier in the year with an incredible run to the fourth-round of the Australian Open. The young American also defeated world number two Alexander Zverev on his way to making the quarter-finals of the Mexican Open, but his form has dried up on the clay.

His opponent Reilly Opelka was forced to withdraw halfway through his quarter-final match at the Challenger event in Aix-en-Provence last week, having beaten Frenchmen Kyrian Jacquet and Corentin Moutet. The big-serving American had hardly threatened in either Barcelona or Madrid, with tame defeats to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Karen Khachanov in the early rounds respectively.

Neither player is particularly comfortable on the clay but despite his poor form, Tien may be able to outlast Opelka who will likely still be recovering from the hip injury he sustained in his last event.
