Captained by James Anderson, who bowled three reasonably tidy overs against Surrey the other day, Lancashire Lightning looked set to contain the big spending Londoners before a 29-run final over cost them dearly in the end.

Notts Outlaws, on the other hand, started their T20 Blast campaign with a hammering of their own as they succumbed to a seven-wicket loss at home to the Yorkshire Vikings, with former England international Jonny Bairstow flailing it to all parts of Trent Bridge.

Notts are a good side across all formats, albeit did dip in the white-ball stuff last year. That said, they come up against a Lancs side that don’t really appear to know what they want to be and do just yet.
