In the first-leg of this UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie, Kuopion Palloseura defeated Vardar by two goals to nil with goals in each half. KuPS took the lead just before half-time via Brahima Magassa before completing a 2-0 victory with a strike scored by Bob Armah early on in the second half.

KuPS reached the knockout playoff round of the UEFA Europa Conference League last season and a victory here would guarantee them a UECL playoff tie at the very least in qualification.

Vardar were beaten by the more experienced KuPS side, who are continuing to develop their European nous, and another KuPS victory is to be expected in this second-leg.
