Katie Boulter played an important role in getting Great Britain through to the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup. However, despite taking the first set, Boulter would go on to lose to Jessica Pegula to give the USA an unassailable 2-0 lead as they qualified for the final. It’s been a disappointing season for the Brit by her standards, and she is now ranked outside of the top 50 in the world rankings. Her form has taken a huge slide since losing in the second-round of Wimbledon at the start of July.
Hailey Baptiste will be her opponent in the first-round. The American has not played since her second-round defeat to four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka at the US Open. Baptiste has also not had the best of seasons, with her best result being a quarter-final appearance in Auckland right at the start of the year.
