Katie Boulter vs Amanda Anisimova prediction
Katie Boulter picked up a much-needed win in round one of the China Open as she defeated Hailey Baptiste in three sets. The Brit performed well at the Billie Jean King Cup and managed to continue that level here, racing into a 3-0 lead in the decider to win 7-5 5-7 6-4. This was her fourth win at WTA 1000 level.
Her opponent is Amanda Anisimova, who will play in her first match since losing the US Open final to Aryna Sabalenka. The American is now up to her highest ranking of world number four, having got through to two Grand Slam finals in succession and won a 1000 event in Doha earlier on in the season.
Boulter may have regained a bit of confidence after a slight upturn in form, but she starts as the clear underdog against Anisimova, who will be expected to get off to a winning start.
