Katerina Siniakova enters the main draw of the Korea Open as a qualifier. She won both stages with straight set victories over Astra Sharma and Talia Gibson. She suffered a disappointing first-round defeat to Storm Hunter in Guadalajara last week, which followed a similarly early exit at the US Open. Siniakova has failed to win a main draw singles match since winning the title in Warsaw at the beginning of August. The Czech player, who has a stunning record as a doubles player with 11 Grand Slams in total, currently holds a singles ranking of 78.
Park Soyhun will be her first-round opponent. The South Korean was handed a wildcard to feature in her home tournament and will be making her first main draw appearance on the WTA Tour since this event three years ago. She is ranked 294 in the world and does have two titles to her name on the ITF circuit in 2025.
Siniakova should be expected to win this in straight sets against her inexperienced opponent.
