Karolina Pliskova vs Anastasia Potapova prediction

Karolina Pliskova continued her run in Madrid as she beat Solana Sierra in straight sets. The former world number one went an early break down but quickly got a grip of the match as she went on to win 6-4 6-3 after one hour and 25 minutes. She is now into her first WTA 1000 quarter-final since Doha in 2024, and her first on clay since the Italian Open in 2021.

Her next opponent is Anastasia Potapova as she pulled off an upset by beating Elena Rybakina. Potapova was unable to make it out of qualifying for this event, but she’s now into the last eight as she beat Rybakina 7-6 (8) 6-4 after one hour and 53 minutes.

Pliskova leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a victory two years ago, but this is their first match on a clay court. Both players have performed strongly to reach this point, but Potapova will take a lot of confidence from how she played against Rybakina. Pliskova will have to serve well to give herself a chance of victory.
