Karen Khachanov came from a set down to get past Botic van de Zandschulp in the third-round of the Italian Open. Van de Zandschulp made the better start and took the lead, but Khachanov largely dominated the next two sets to win 5-7 6-4 6-4 after two hours and 28 minutes. This is the first time the Russian has won back-to-back matches since the Qatar Open in February.
He now faces Dino Prizmic. The Croatian is through to the round-of-16 stage of a Masters tournament for the first time after beating Ugo Humbert in straight sets. Prizmic, who caused an upset by defeating 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the previous round, made a fast start and broke towards the end of the second set to win 6-1 7-5.
Khachanov is still vulnerable despite his two wins in a row, and a high-flying Prizmic has enough quality in his game to continue his incredible run in Rome.
