Karen Khachanov vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction

Karen Khachanov took all six of his break points as he defeated Francesco Passaro 6-3 6-0 in the third-round. The Italian took a 3-0 lead in the first set, but Khachanov reeled off 12 straight games to set up a fourth-round match with four-time champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz overcame a slow start to beat Laslo Djere 7-6 6-2 to reach the round-of-16 stage. He was struggling with his groundstrokes early on, with those mistakes leading to the Serbian going up a break early on and serving for the first set at 6-5. Alcaraz got the all-important break back to force a tiebreak which he won and then raced clear in the second set against his opponent who required treatment as the match drew to a close.

The Spaniard leads the head-to-head 4-0 and 3-0 in clay, not dropping a set in any of their encounters. Alcaraz is still playing his way into the tournament after a short spell out but his commanding record against the Russian and his solid level towards the end of his third-round match should see him through to a first ever Rome quarter-final.
