Alejandro Tabilo’s wretched 2025 is showing some signs of improvement.
The Chilean, who has managed just five tour-level wins this year, reached the final of the Guangzhou Huangpu Challenger last time out and backed it up with a gritty showing in qualifying.
It's a similar story for Thompson, who hasn’t really found his 2024 form after an injury at the start of the year and has only played four matches since Wimbledon, resulting in a drop out of the top 50 to 78 in the standings.
The Aussie will be the higher ranked player against the South American, but Tabilo did win their only previous clash on the hardcourts of Indian Wells two years back in straight sets and his power and ease with the conditions make him a decent punt for a rare win here.
