Joao Fonseca vs Luka Pavlovic prediction
Joao Fonseca’s clay court campaign began well as he reached the semi-finals of a Masters 1000 event for the first time at the Monte-Carlo Masters. He pushed Alexander Zverev to a deciding set, but he would go on to lose the match. His recent results have been less eye-catching as he lost in the third-round of the Madrid Open to fellow youngster Rafael Jodar, and then suffered a loss in his opening match in Rome to Hamad Medjedovic. Fonseca was set to compete in Hamburg, but he withdrew from the event citing discomfort in his right wrist.
He faces Luka Pavlovic. The 26-year-old is set to make his first appearance in a major after advancing through the qualifying stages. Pavlovic has been competitive on the Challenger Tour with two semi-finals and a single last eight appearance, but he is still ranked well outside the top 200 in the world.
There is a question mark over Fonseca’s fitness once again, but he’s still a clear favourite to win this first-round match.
