Jessica Pegula vs Katie Boulter prediction

Jessica Pegula managed to help get the all important victory for the United States in their deciding match with Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals. She teamed up in the doubles with Taylor Townsend to defeat Elena Rybakina and Yulia Putintseva in straight sets. Pegula had the opportunity to seal the tie in the singles against Rybakina but lost. The world number seven does seem to have found some form again, having made the semi-finals of the US Open a fortnight ago.

Katie Boulter will her opponent in the singles. Boulter clinched Great Britain’s place in the semi-finals with a crushing 6-2 6-1 win over Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima. Her form has taken a worrying slide ever since her second-round loss at Wimbledon in July, but that performance was a major step in the right direction for Boulter, and she will relish the opportunity of taking on Pegula.

She also leads the head-to-head 1-0, having come from a set down to beat Pegula in the United Cup two years ago. Pegula’s consistency, superior return game and composure should allow her to absorb Boulter’s aggressive game and grind her down over three sets. This has all the makings of a close match, but the American will be expected to win
