Jessica Pegula vs Barbora Krejcikova prediction

Barbora Krejcikova’s Houdini Act against Taylor Townsend will have created a swell of belief that she could land her third Grand Slam singles title. 

The former Wimbledon and French Open champion saved no fewer than eight match points to sink the American 1-6 7-6 6-3.

It was the very definition of clutch from the Czech who appears to have found a level of fitness and form that make the 29-year-old a very real threat at the business end of this tournament. 

The world number 62 will now take on last year’s runner-up Jessica Pegula after the American surged to a convincing 6-1 6-2 victory over Ann Li. 

The fourth seed will now meet Krejcikova for the fourth time with the Czech winning the past two meetings to lead the head-to-head 2-1 (all on hard courts).

Pegula will again have the crowd support - and has yet to drop a set in New York - but Krejcikova’s variety and ability to switch from slice into explosive attack should change that and could prove key in the match-up.
