Jessica Pegula vs Anna Kalinskaya prediction

Jessica Pegula suffered a disappointing third-round loss to Elise Mertens last time out at the Italian Open. She also suffered the same fate to unseeded Moyuka Uchijima two weeks earlier in Madrid. Her earlier displays on clay were far more promising, as she won the Charleston Open in early April and made the quarter-finals in Stuttgart.

Pegula is aiming for her third title of the season and takes on Anna Kalinskaya after receiving a bye in the first-round. Kalinskaya advanced through to the next stage of the competition following a three set win over Caroline Dolehide. 

This will be their first match on clay but Pegula leads the head-to-head 3-0 and won their most recent encounter just two months ago, getting through a tight three set match in the third-round of Miami on her way to making the final.

Their last two matches have gone down to a deciding tiebreak, with Kalinskaya’s aggressive brand of tennis always asking questions of Pegula. We are leaning towards the world number three getting through in three sets but she will have to work hard for victory.
